With the move to ArchLinux and the Atomic Updater lockdown, whenever an update to the SM OS occurs, it breaks AstarBox functionality.  Here is a guide to fix it so that equipment that relies on the box to remember power settings will be available post restart.  Hope this helps, Kevin

ASTARBOX CONFIGURATION GUIDE FOR STELLARMATE OS V2
===================================================================

1. SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS & REASON FOR BLOCK
-------------------------------------------------------------------
StellarMate OS v2 relies on Arch Linux (Manjaro ARM). Traditional
Debian/Ubuntu 'apt' commands do not work, and core library names
differ from old configurations.

Launching AStarBox UI scripts globally fails with the error:
"ImportError: libtk8.6.so: cannot open shared object file"

This means Python cannot load its structural window builder components
because the system's foundational Tk/Tcl C-libraries are missing.


2. DISABLING ATOMIC LOCKDOWNS
-------------------------------------------------------------------
StellarMate OS uses an atomic update model to block third-party file
system alterations. To fix dependencies, you must unlock it:

Open a terminal and execute:
sudo /etc/stellarmate/atomic-updates.sh --disable


3. INSTALLING THE MISSING LIBRARIES
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Use 'yay' (the Arch User Repository helper) to grab the core library bundle.
Do NOT prefix 'yay' with sudo; it escalates permissions automatically.

Execute:
yay -S tk

Refresh the Linux dynamic link manager cache to map the new library file:
sudo ldconfig


4. SETTING UP THE LOCAL PYTHON ENVIRONMENT
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Isolate the AStarBox dependencies to protect them from future global updates.

Navigate to the download path:
cd ~/Downloads/astarbox

Create the isolated virtual environment container:
python3 -m venv astar-env

Activate the container for your active terminal session:
source astar-env/bin/activate

Install the local interface toolkit variables:
pip install tk Pmw


5. FIXING THE DESKTOP SHORTCUT RELAUNCH FLICKER
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The old shortcut path targets a global layout and triggers an environment
re-routing self-closure. Point it directly to your new environment.

Open the desktop configurations file:
nano ~/Desktop/AStarBox.desktop

Find the line beginning with "Exec=" and replace it with:
Exec=/home/stellarmate/Downloads/astarbox/astar-env/bin/python3 /home/stellarmate/Downloads/astarbox/AStarBoxUI.py

Save your edits (Ctrl + O, then Enter) and exit nano (Ctrl + X).

Ensure executable permissions are granted to the relevant script files:
chmod +x ~/Desktop/AStarBox.desktop
chmod +x AStarBoxUI.py
chmod +x batcharge.sh


6. RE-ENABLING THE SYSTEM ATOMIC ENVIRONMENT
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Lock the underlying operating system partitions down again to defend
your core driver configuration from updates or corruption.

Execute:
sudo /etc/stellarmate/atomic-updates.sh --enable
