SvBONY H-Alpha 7nm

SKU SVB-F9169A

Professional 31.75 mm (1.25 in) narrowband H-Alpha astrophotography filter designed to capture intricate details of emission nebulae under heavily light-polluted skies.

  • Ultra-Narrow Bandwidth: 7 nm FWHM centered at 656.3 nm (H-Alpha line emitted by ionized hydrogen).
  • High Peak Transmission: Over 85%–90% transmittance at the critical 656.3 nm wavelength.
  • Extreme Light Pollution Cutoff: Complete blocking from 300 nm to 1100 nm, suppressing sodium (Na) and mercury (Hg) artificial streetlights.
  • Advanced Optical Substrate: Double-sided polished optical glass with flatness of 1/4λ and parallelism under 30 arcseconds.
  • IAD Multi-Coating: Ion-Assisted Deposition coating technology prevents temperature-induced spectral drift.
  • Premium CNC Frame: Anodized aluminum housing with M28.5*0.6 thread and anti-reflection internal extinction finish.
Note: Designed for astrophotography (CCD/CMOS cameras). Not suitable for visual observation or solar viewing.

Unlock High-Contrast Deep-Sky Astrophotography

The SVBONY H-Alpha 7nm 31.75 mm (1.25 in) Narrowband Filter (SKU: F9169A) is an essential tool for monochrome CCD and CMOS astrophotography. By isolating the critical hydrogen-alpha emission line at 656.3 nm with a tight Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM) bandwidth of 7 nm, this filter dramatically boosts image contrast when capturing diffuse emission nebulae, planetary nebulae, and supernova remnants.

Superior Light Pollution Suppression & IAD Coating

Designed to perform even under city skies afflicted by severe artificial light pollution or during full moon phases, the filter blocks unwanted spectral lines from 300 nm to 1100 nm. It completely cuts off interference caused by low- and high-pressure sodium (Na) lamps and mercury (Hg) vapor streetlights.

Utilizing Ion-Assisted Deposition (IAD) multi-coating technology, the optical coatings achieve extreme atomic density. This minimizes wavelength thermal drift caused by ambient temperature changes during long exposure imaging sessions night after night.

7 nm FWHM Passband

High-efficiency transmission (>85%–90%) at 656.3 nm H-Alpha wavelength.

Precision Optical Glass

Features double-sided fine polishing achieving a surface flatness of 1/4λ and optical parallelism under 30 arcseconds (<30") to preserve pin-point star profiles.

CNC Anodized Housing

Machined from aircraft-grade aluminum alloy with anti-reflective internal extinction treatment and standard M28.5*0.6 filter threads.

Frequently Asked Questions & Important Warnings

No. Human dark-adapted eyes have very low sensitivity at 656.3 nm wavelength. The ultra-narrow 7 nm passband will dim the view severely, making targets invisible to the human eye. This filter is designed exclusively for long-exposure photography using astronomy cameras (CCD/CMOS).

Standard urban light pollution spreads across wide wavelength ranges. The 7 nm narrow bandwidth isolates only the 656.3 nm light emitted by ionized nebulae while blocking up to 99% of background stray light, city glow, and Moonlight, resulting in dark sky backgrounds and bright nebula details.

Yes. The filter housing uses standard M28.5*0.6 threads, making it fully compatible with all standard 31.75 mm (1.25 in) filter wheels, camera nosepieces, and adapters.
