Immersive 82° Ultra Wide-Field Deep-Sky Astronomy

The Celestron Luminos 31 mm 50.8 mm (2 in) Eyepiece offers an expansive 82° apparent field of view, making it the premier choice for low-power wide-field observing. Whether paired with a short, fast refractor or a large Schmidt-Cassegrain / Celestron EdgeHD telescope, this eyepiece frames vast target areas such as the North America Nebula, the Pleaides star cluster, and the Andromeda Galaxy with stunning clarity.

Fully Multi-Coated 6-Element Optical Design

Engineered with a 6-element glass optical arrangement in 4 groups, every air-to-glass surface is Fully Multi-Coated (FMC) to maximize light throughput and eliminate internal reflections. Featuring a large 47 mm (1.85 in) field stop diameter and a generous eye relief of 27 mm (1.06 in), it guarantees effortless, edge-to-edge sharp viewing with minimal vignetting.

The Luminos eyepiece body is crafted from polished, high-grade anodized aluminum. The center features a ribbed rubber grip ring that serves a dual purpose: ensuring a firm hold during cold observing nights and seamlessly rotating to raise or lower the twist-up eyecup for tailored eye positioning.

82° Apparent Field

Ultra-wide field stop diameter of 47 mm (1.85 in) for panoramic star fields.

Parfocal Design

All eyepieces in the Celestron Luminos series are parfocal, allowing you to swap focal lengths during observing sessions with little to no refocusing needed.

Standard 2" Filter Threaded

The 50.8 mm (2 in) barrel is precision-machined and interior-threaded to accept all standard 50.8 mm (2 in) nebula, UHC, OIII, and light pollution filters.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Due to its large 47 mm (1.85 in) field stop diameter, the 31mm Luminos eyepiece requires a native 50.8 mm (2 in) focuser and star diagonal. It cannot be used with 31.75 mm (1.25 in) diagonals.

Yes! With a long eye relief of 27 mm (1.06 in), observers wearing eyeglasses can easily view the entire 82° field of view without removing their glasses.

To find the magnification, divide your telescope's focal length by 31 mm. For example, on a telescope with a 2000 mm focal length, 2000 ÷ 31 = 64.5x magnification.
